HOW IT STARTED

My Story

It’s been well known that it’s difficult for people to go through changes in their lives (changing a  job, moving to another house/place/country or going through some physical change).

I’ve created this site because I had a hard time finding resources when I had a spinal cord injury after my back surgery in 2019.

I am Lera Alexandrova and I am here to share my story and my journey and to hear about yours. I would like to share how I am adapting to be an independent and to take care of my children.

As a single mother of two young daughters it is important for me to stay strong and to show a good example to them and people who need an inspiration.

Welcome to Overcoming Change

#overcomingchange

It’s important to realize that with disabilities it is still possible to go on adventures, do activities, and live life with your loved ones that you never thought would be possible to live again.

Inspirational Stories

Stories of exceptional people I’ve personally met in my journey.

I was paralyzed and operated a power wheelchair with my head. Whenever i shared that I wanted to walk again, people looked at me as if I was disillusioned. I believe in a God who can move mountains and believed He had the power to move mine. I never gave up on my hope.

Ali McKerlich

Being an athlete all of my life, I try to look at my spinal cord injury as a long tennis match. Meaning in a tennis match you go through periods of success and failure. With a spinal cord injury I go through periods of positive and negative emotions.

Geoff Lance

When you have some tragedy that changes your life completely you have a choice: to victimize yourself or move forward and make the best out of it.
